Terms of use

Short version: this is a hobby project you're welcome to play with. It comes as is, without promises; be decent with it; what you make is yours.

What this is

Dot/480 is a personal, non-commercial website by Yash Mahajan: an experiment in drawing interfaces out of dots. There are no accounts, no payments and nothing to sign up for. By using the site you agree to these terms; if you don't, please don't use it.

Provided as is

The site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. It may change, break, lose your locally saved work or go offline at any time, without notice. Live data (weather, GitHub activity) can be late, cached or wrong: don't rely on it for anything that matters.

Some cards animate quickly or flash briefly (for example the e-ink refresh). If flashing light affects you, take care.

Acceptable use

The code

The source is public at github.com/YashM20/dot-matrix. The repository does not currently include a license file, so no open-source license is granted yet: reading the code is welcome, but reusing or redistributing it needs the author's permission until the repository says otherwise. Check the repository for the current status. The bundled Oxanium typeface is under its own open font license.

What you make

Programs, cards, drawings, photos and recordings you make or bring to the site stay yours. They are kept in your own browser or saved as files on your device; the author doesn't receive them. If you share a link, the work in it is published by you, and you are responsible for it.

Third-party data and services

Weather data comes from Open-Meteo and contribution data from GitHub (via github-contributions-api.jogruber.de). That data belongs to its providers and is shown under their terms. Names of other products and services belong to their owners. Linked sites are not controlled by this project.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any damages arising from using or not being able to use the site, including lost work or data. You use it for free and at your own risk. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law says can't be limited.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the date above moves when they do, and every past version is in the repository's history. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
